The 7th China IP International Annual Forum & 2017 Annual Conference of In-house IP Managers in China Ends Successfully

  The new year resumed, and everything updated. From January 14-15, the 7th China IP International Annual Forum & 2017 Annual Conference of In-house IP Managers in China was held grandly in InterContinental Hotel, Beijing, on the theme of “IP Route and Strategies for Enterprises under New International Situation”.
  On its advantages of basing itself in the forefront of IP sector and fully grasping China's IP sector development and trend etc., this year's China IP International Annual Forum drew so many representatives of government intellectual property agencies, experts and scholars, representatives of intellectual property service agencies, and intellectual property managers from hundreds of enterprises from different countries to attend this forum, such as China, the US, Russia, France, the UK, Japan, Korea, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Qatar, Mexico, Panama, Brazil etc. The total number of participants exceeded 500.
  Hosted by Tommy Zhang , president and editor-in-chief of China IP, the Opening Ceremony was attended and addressed by Liu Chuntian, chairman of the China Intellectual Property Law Association; Lin Guanghai, vice presiding judge from IP Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court; Ma Hao, president of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI); Qu Sanqiang, executive vice president of Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society.
  The forum included the main forums, parallel panels, awards ceremony and cases training four parts, deeply discussing topics around China IP management trend, IP management practice of enterprises , network copyright protection, proof in intellectual property infringement litigation, route and strategies under intellectual property internationalization and other topics. This forum also explored the development of intellectual property in new international situation, and promoted development and progress of intellectual property sector nationally and internationally.
  The Forum of China IP Management Trend
  The Forum of China IP Management Trend made an inventory of China’s IP hot topics about administration, legislation and justice in 2016, forecasted China’s IP new trend of development in 2017 and explored new routes of IP driven by innovation nationally and internationally.
  Hosted by Zhou Yan, deputy director general of Beijing Intellectual Property Office, the Forum of China IP Management Trend was addressed keynote speeches by Lei Xiaoyun, director of Patent Management Division of State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO); Duan Yuping, deputy director of Copyright Management Division of National Copyright Administration of the PRC; Song Yushui, vice president of Beijing Intellectual Property Court; Jiang Bo, general manager of Legal Department of Tencent Inc.; Mu Hong, board chairman of Chofn Inc.; Fan Liming, vice president of Shanghai Sinofaith IP Group Co., Ltd. etc.
  The Forum of China IP Management Practice
  The Forum of China IP Management Practice started with the management practice of enterprises’ IP, sharing the IP management experience during the enterprises’ internationalization and localization, exploring the IP solutions in the procedure of internationalization, focusing on the skill promotion and value realization of the IP managers. Leaders from the most representative enterprises and service institutions were invited to share their most innovative ideas and practice experience of IP management and operation in China.
  Hosted by Qu Xiaoyang, director of Greater China IP Department of Siemens Ltd. China, the Forum of China IP Management Practice was addressed keynote speeches by Feng Xu, partner of the White & Williams LLP; Guo Zhenpeng, director of IP Department of BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd.; Li Yingyan, deputy general manager of Lung Tin Intellectual Property Agent Ltd.; Bruno Nunes, managing partner of BN Intellectual Property Services; Deng Yang, Legal Director of Douyutv etc.
  This year's China IP International Annual Forum, as always, adhered to the theme of exploring the development trend and enterprises’ management process of IP practice, and it was committed to building up an international communication and cooperation platform in the field of intellectual property.

  The Route and Strategy for IP Service Internationalization & the 2017 Annual Conference of Alliance of Global Intellectual Property Service was presented and addressed by Jean-Baptiste BARBIER, IP counselor of Embassy of France in China, with the keynote speakers including SASEE UTHAI, partner/ head of IP Department of STLO Asia Ltd.; Lei Dian, the secondary partner of HENGDU Law Firm; Paul Tokeshi, International Department lawyer of SONODA & KOBAYASHI INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW; Lucy H. Li, partner of Kangxin Partners, P.C.; Jehad Al Hassan, CEO of JAH & CO. IP; Robert M. Siminski, vice chairman of the Asian Practice Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association. With the rapid development of science and technology and the acceleration of the process of economic globalization, intellectual property has increasingly become the key to determine the core competitiveness of a country, also an important determinant and measure of enterprises to develop bigger and stronger. This year's China IP International Annual Forum closely followed the development trend of the innovation era and implemented the aim and strategy of the national intellectual property development. Nearly 100 government agencies, intellectual property sector organizations, enterprises’ representatives, experts and scholars from dozens of countries and regions from five continents attended this big party, including representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), the British Embassy in China, the French Embassy in China, the State Intellectual Property Office of the PRC, the regional Intellectual Property Courts of China, the top scientific research and education institutions, experts and scholars from universities , and many intellectual property executives of Siemens, IBM, Honeywell, Eupec, Matsushita Electric, General Motors, Tencent, Sina, Youku Tudou Inc., ZTE Corporation, Letv, Qihoo 360, Douyutv, Gree, Midea Group and other domestic and foreign enterprises. They together discussed the development trend of IP internationalization, new opportunities and challenges faced by the enterprises in their IP management practice.
  This Annual Forum provided intellectual property professionals with an opportunity to learn about the latest development in intellectual property information at home and abroad, to master the achievements of enterprises intellectual property management, and to promote the communication and sharing of intellectual property resources at home and abroad to the fullest extent as much as possible. This forum also provided an excellent opportunity for enterprises to establish a good enterprise image, to expand enterprise visibility, and to establish a vast networking.
  This forum summarized and forecasted China's intellectual property business annually, and made an analysis and exploration on enterprises intellectual property management experience and coping strategies under different economic situations; this forum focused on macro policies and regulations, and it was more concerned about the role of intellectual property in real economy’s revitalization and development and enterprises’ management and application in its innovation development. As the annual event of the intellectual property field, the forum has been highly praised and recognized by people in the IP sector since its first event in 2012, and it has become one of the most influential forums in the intellectual property field of China.
  The 7th China IP Annual Forum was surely a realistic event, which explored the development trend of intellectual property successfully; it was surely an innovative event, which focused on the transmission and sharing of the enterprise intellectual property operation and management concept and experience; it was surely an unprecedented event, which announced the most influential institutions and individuals of China's intellectual property sector in 2016; it was surely an updated event, which strengthened the links between domestic and international intellectual property sectors, and promoted the sharing of resources and the prosperous development of intellectual property industry.
  The Awarding Ceremony of 2017 China IP Managers & Appreciation Dinner
  On the evening of January 14th, hosted by Wang Xiaolei, host of Society and Law Channel of CCTV and Li Xue, editorial director of Editorial Department of China IP, the Awarding Ceremony of 2017 China IP Managers & Appreciation Dinner was successfully held, with many awards including “2016 Outstanding In-house IP Managers in China”, “2016 Outstanding IP Management Teams in China”, “2016 Intellectual Property Industry Distinguished Contribution Award”, “2016 Outstanding IP Service Teams in China”, “2016 China IP Most Influential People” and some other awards announced.
  As an important part of each annual meeting, the selection of annual series of outstanding intellectual property institutions and characters has been concerned and expected by this sector. In the past several sessions of the Annual Forum, dozens of experts and scholars, institutional leaders, enterprises’ managers and hundreds of intellectual property service institutions, enterprise intellectual property management departments have obtained the awards above.
  Cases Training
  By presenting practical cases, the training covered IP risks and countermeasures for Chinese enterprises doing overseas business and vice versa, including exportation and acquisition. The Cases Training were presented by Zhang Xuejun, vice presiding judge from IP Tribunal of Guangdong Higher People’s Court; Gary P. Biehn, partner of White & Williams LLP; Yu Hui, chief judge from IP Tribunal of Changsha Intermediate People’s Court; Li Yali from KANGXIN PARTNERS; Rui Songyan, judge of Beijing Intellectual Property Court
