QBPC Releases 2016-2017 Top 10 Cases in IP Protection
On June 17, Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) established 17 years ago with nearly 200 foreign enterprise members and Chinese enterprise observers held the 2016-2017 QBPC Annual Top Ten Cases in IP Protection and Model Cases Harmonizing Administrative and Judicial Cases in IP Enforcement Announcement. Through an election with justice, openness and fairness, 28 cases were selected, of which non-criminal cases mostly are related with trademark infringement, unfair competition, administrative Law enforcement in import/export etc.
 
Haidian District Sees Signing Ceremony of Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Intellectual Property Strong Area Project
On May 2, Signing Ceremony of Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Intellectual Property Strong Area Project & 2017 Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Forum held by Beijing IP Office and the government of Haidian District and co-organized by Haidian IP Office was successfully held to further strengthen cultural construction of IP. Officials from SIPO and Beijing IP Office, IP experts and scholars attended this forum.
 
In-depth Discussion on IP Protection and Innovative Development at 2017 Annual Conference of China IP Law Association
On June 3, 2017 Annual Conference of China I P Law Association held by China IP Law Association and coorganized by Renmin University of China opened grandly in Beijing International Conference Center. A total number of more than 500 IP professionals from universities and institutes attended the conference, which developed study of legislative issues of IP industry in China and searched for relevant solutions, with the theme of "IP Protection and Innovative Development Under the Background of Globalization".
 
Nankai Symposium on the Evolving Landscape of International Intellectual Property Successfully Held
On May 13, Nankai Symposium on the Evolving Landscape of International Intellectual Property was held at Jinnan Campus of Nankai University, drawing more than 100 experts and scholars from the IP research industry. Jointly held by the School of Law and the Research Center of IP Law of Nankai University, the symposium aimed to provide direction guidance for China’s strategic IP implementation through discussion on hot topics in the international IP sector, especially on the IP development of China in the strategic background of "One Belt One Road".
 
Symposium on Hot IP Issues in the Standardization Age Discusses SEP Issues
Held by the School of Law/School of Intellectual Property of SUN YAT-SEN University and co-organized by SZ DJI Technology Co., Ltd., the Symposium on Hot IP Issues in the Standardization Age was held in the south campus of the university. The professor of the Law School of SUN YAT-SEN University hosted the symposium and secretary of the Law School, Luo Zhenzhong and vice president of the Law School, Zhang Liang addressed the opening ceremony. The symposium delivered keynote speeches and had a heated discussion on "Influence of SEP License Practice on Expense Confirmation and Injunctive Relief of FRAND" and other three themes.
 
CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office Celebrates Its 60th Year Anniversary 
On May 15, CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office held an activity to celebrate its 60th year anniversary and announce its achievements. During the event, the office released its new slogan "守护智慧、创造价值" in Chinese and "Enriching your ideas" in English, published the 60th Year Anniversary Autograph Book and set an exhibition area of memorable achievements to make the attendees have a more sensitive acknowledgement of the development history of the office during the 60 years and the development of China’s IP career.
 
IP5 Heads Sign a Joint Statement in Republic of Malta
From May 30 to June 1, the Five IP Offices (IP5) Heads Meeting (consisting of IP Offices from China, the United States, Japan, Europe and Korea) was held in Republic of Malta. The meeting was presented by EPO President Beno?t Battistelli, SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu, USPTO (former) Director Michelle Lee, JPO Commissioner Yoshinori Komiya, KIPO Vice Commissioner Young Dae Lee and WIPO Deputy Director General (DDG) John Sandage. Heads from 5 offices signed a joint statement of 2017 to further promote the cooperation.
 
The 2nd Phase of China IP Judges Forum (Series) Offers an Opportunity to Communicate with Judges
On June 2, China IP held the 2nd Phase of China IP Judges Forum (Series) to further strengthen the deeply communication between judges and experts, scholars etc. The former president of the IP Tribunal of Jiangsu Province Higher People's Court, Ms. Song Jian gave a lecture at the forum with the theme of "Analysis of Classical Trademark Cases". Li Yang, professor of Law School of SUN YAT-SEN University hosted the link of expert discussion and interaction, aiming to study on the confirmation of secret points in trademark secret, calculation of damage compensation in trademark secret infringement etc.
 
SIPO Commissioner Attends China-Visegrad Group Joint Seminar on Intellectual Property
On May 18th, the China-Visegrad Group Joint Seminar on Intellectual Property was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He said that China wished to deepen exchanges and cooperation on IP with nations of the Visegrad Group and to set an example for the IP cooperation along the Belt and Road.
