Winners of the 2021 European Inventor Award revealed

On June 17, the European Patent Office (EPO) held the European Inventor Award Ceremony for the first time in virtual form.

 

As a blockbuster event in the field of science and innovation, the European Inventor Award Ceremony gives global audiences the opportunity to learn about outstanding inventors from Europe and other regions and their numerous exquisite solutions designed for today’s most difficult and pressing problems. The 15 contestants who were shortlisted for the final stage respectively made outstanding contributions in the fields of diagnosis and ultrasound imaging, biometrics, sustainable plastic production, and wildlife protection. The event will present awards to the winners of five categories, including: Industry, Scientific Research, SMEs, Non-European Patent Office National and Lifetime Achievement Awards, as well as popular welcome awards selected by the public. Pi Bo and He Yi from Shenzhen Goodix Technology Co., Ltd. were shortlisted for the final stage. Two inventors made outstanding contributions in the field of smartphone fingerprint verification. This is also the first time that an inventor from a Chinese company was shortlisted for the final stage of the European Inventor Award.
