Tianma Microelectronics succeeded in invalidating Hodogaya's OLED patent

On April 1, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) declared on its official website the invalidity of the patent "Doped Organic Semiconductor Conductive Substrate Material" (ZL201380036938.2) of Japan-based chemical company Hodogaya Chemical. The invalidation petitioner is WuhanTianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. The invalidated patent is a basic patent, as the material of tetraphenylbenzidine compound was still in the development process, Hodogaya only submitted patent application in Japan, its protection in China has been conducted through its improved patented technology, enabling Hodogaya to continue its control over the sale and use of tetraphenylbenzidine compound materials commonly used in the manufacture of OELD cavity transport layers after the expiration. As the invalidating gained success, one of the potential threats to Tianma Microelectronics and even the whole OLED material industry in China has been cleared.
