Marked Progress Achieved in the "Suyuan" Special Action Against Trademark Infringement

On June 20, the national workshop of industry, commerce and market regulation authorities on trademark supervision held in Xining.
In September 2017, the former State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) released the Notice of the General Office of SAIC on Launching the "Suyuan" Special Action against Trademark Infringement (No.〔2017〕165) to decide that the national system for industry, commerce and market regulation will start to carry out the "Suyuan" special action from the first quarter of 2018. In October 2017, in the stage of case clue collection for the special action, the authorities for industry, commerce and market regulation of various kinds reported altogether over 2,000 pieces of case clue and about 167 trademark cases. 571 cases were sorted out and formed, covering 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government). During the special action, 4,418 pieces of case clue were sorted out by the national relevant authorities, among which 2,270 were handled through specific cases, involving over 50 million yuan of illegal business revenue. As of the end of April 2018, 1,975 cases had been settled, 25.33 million yuan had been fined, 23 cases had been transferred to the judicial organs and 48 counterfeiting hideouts had been destroyed through the special action.
